'She trusts you': Feral momma cat approaches feline-loving couple and leaves her helpless kittens with the hoomans to give her babies a better life

Howdy and happy Moeownday, feline fam. We had a very eventful weekend, and we can't wait to share what happened with you. We were finally chosen. We, us, self-proclaimed cat-lovers, feline aficionados, appreciators of all things feline, were finally chosen by the Cat Distribution System! Not unlike the story below, we woke up to find a smol kitten on our front porch on Caturday (of course it happened on Caturday). The momma cat was nowhere in sight, but we left some food and water out for her just in case. Our cute kitten is now safely snuggled at home, clean, and getting ready to meet the rest of their feline family.

Now, the story below is not so different than ours. Although they actually got to meet the momma cat, who dropped off two of her helpless kittens with the hooman couple to give her babies a better life. Seems purrfectly logical, if you ask us.   • Those aren't kittens, they look like giant cotton balls with cute faces! They're probably about 7 weeks old, so they can safely eat kitten food without worrying about momma cat coming back to feed them. That's lucky - feeding kittens formula is a full-time job.

    They look old enough for kitten wet food and they probably aren't nursing any long or she wouldn't have left them. I would keep an eye out for her to come back. She may check in on them, she may bring more, or she may have just dropped and run.

  • Normally, we would be feeling purrfectly “happy” for them, just like the hissterical commenter above. However, we were recently blessed by the CDS, so we actually are happy for them this time. It was finally our time and we couldn't be happier about it!

    Mkayy_8285 • 13h ago • Edited 13h ago This happened to me once, a male stray I was caring for preferred to be outdoors (only showed up when he was hungry or lost a fight) one night I heard cats fighting and I looked outside and saw him dragging a kitten‚he left (dropped) it on my front door and dipped ... come to find out he was the father ③, and that kitten was the runt and unable or to weak to fight for a feeding spot, so he brought it to me to take care of it, never felt so honored

Feral cats often communally raise kittens and trade off litters with each other so nursing mothers can eat, drink, exercise, etc. She is handing her litter off to you to keep an eye on them, feed them and take care of them and give them back to her when she comes back! She trusts you and sees you as a member of her colony.

A cat came by, dropped off a little kitten at her house and then went back, got another kitten (he would be named Edward) and dropped it at my grandma's neighbor/friend. She only had two babies, but came around to feed them, check on them, etc. The house this poor mama was from wasn't the best and must have known that these two old ladies would take care of her kittens.
